Jumper T16 PRO Hall

I just received my new backup & foamies transmitter: For the price of a one Futaba T32MZ Gold edition (at 5000€ !!!) , I can buy 34 units of this transmitter ! This is the Jumper T16 PRO HALL. It looks like Futaba, but it "taste" OpenTx, which is way more exciting than Futaba software !!!

The cheap transmitter features:
  • Hall effect gimbals
  • 6 digital trims, 2 sliders.
  • Color screen
  •  internal multi protocol HF module:
*Cypress Semiconductor CYRF6936: DSM/DSMX, Walkera Devo
*Texas Instruments CC2500: FrSky, Futaba SFHSS
* Amiccom A7105: FlySky, FlySky AFHDS2A, Hubsan
* Nordic Semiconductor NRF24L01: HiSky, Syma, ASSAN and most other Chinese models

  • JR compatible external module casing
  • powered by 2 LiIon 18650 batteries

The good news is that OpenTx recently announced they will support the Jumper T16 from the OpenTx version 2.3.2 onward. You can already use the nightly build and flash the Jumper with it.

the 6 trims will give me 2 additional "on the fly" settings. Currently, on my primary transmitter, I using the throttle trim to modify the snap-flap ratio, except for landing flight mode where the same trim modify the compensation of the elevator while using the crow brakes. The rudder trim is modifying the ailerons differential. So I could add another trim to modify the elevator throw, and a fourth one to increase or decrease the flaps position in thermal flight mode. So many possibilities !

also with this radio, no need to pay additional license fees to unlock some features, you have the full potential of OpenTx immediately !

First impressions are very good. The finish and fit of the case is very nice and looks better than the Taranis X9D, Q7, X12, X10. Hall effect gimbals are very smooth and precise as we can expect. The case feels very comfortable in hands, and is light, and well balanced. Sticks are well positioned and the stick length can be very short, so all good for small hands like mines.

Overall, I'm very happy after unpacking the radio, about the quality you get for the small price.

Next step will be to buy 2 LiIon batteries. I will probably go for the largest capacity to maximize power time. I read somewhere that some people installed bigger cells like 21650 format and get up to 5000mAh of capacity !!!! l will therefore check the height of the battery housing before to buy.

Stay tuned !
