Flying with vultures
After the extinction in the beginning of the 20th century, griffon vultures started to be reintroduced in the Alps massif central and pyrénées, and the population has been since then steadily growing. During the FAI in Briançon in 2014 we could observe a group of 40 vultures parking at the bottom of the slope and waiting for an huge thermal to fly away. impressive !
It is now usual to see but also to fly with vultures in our region. It is each time a magic moment given the size of the bird, like this session in November 2015 with Martial Faure (Mar Tien) at col de Faisses, flying his Baudis ASW22.
